House on a wall

The house is anchored upon a wall that seamlessly melds with the surrounding landscape, framing the panoramic view of Lake Zurich. These walls continue within the garden, serving as retaining walls and delineating various garden areas, including the main garden, the pool garden, the flower garden and the sculpture garden.

Inside the house, the walls create a clear layout of the floor plan. The central hall, opening up to the living room and to the panoramic view, forms the nucleus of the house, following the classical principles of Andrea Palladio. It separates formal from informal spaces and services on the ground floor, as well as parents' quarters from children's and guest rooms on the first floor. Terraces on all sides provide areas bathed in sunlight throughout the day.
